The IIFS model of care stems from the Family Preservation Services model and looks at treatment through a decidedly family-focused lens. This means parents and other family members have a much greater level of involvement in the treatment process. IIFS providers have highly flexible evenings/weekends, provide on call 24/7 coverage, maintain a high level of collateral contacts and have considerable flexibility for longer sessions if needed. Counselors have multiple contacts per week with clients and family and the differing parts of the system involved with them. Our average case load in IIFS iis 7 - 9 families.
The family unit is the focus of attention:
Family-centered practice works with the family as a collective unit ensuring the safety and well-being of family members.
Strengthening the capacity of families to function effectively is emphasized:
The primary purpose of family centered practice is to strengthen the family’s potential for carrying out their responsibilities.
Families are engaged in designing all aspects of the program policies and services:
Family-centered practitioners’ partner with families to use their expert knowledge throughout the decision- and goal-making processes and provide individualized, culturally responsive, and relevant services.
This service is available or coming soon in twelve counties across the state. If you would like more information, or would like to bring Intensive In-Home Services to your County, contact Steve Michaud, Chief Programs Officer at 320-894-6933 or email.
