Greater Minnesota Family Services was founded as an In-Home Family Services agency. In-home Family Services is a label that covers a broad scope of services, including Diagnostic Assessments, Individual and Family Therapy, CTSS Individual and Family Skills Training, Parent Education, and Supportive Services to assist with issues pertaining to out of home placements (reunification and prevention).
Located in multiple areas across the state, services are provided by our dedicated professional counseling staff, meeting with the client and family two or more times per week.
Our staff consist of experienced Masters and Bachelors level counselors and therapists-mental health professionals and practitioners-who treat families with the care and respect they deserve during difficult times. We work to prevent out of home placements, to keep the child in the home with the family.
The IIFS model of care stems from the Family Preservation Services model and looks at treatment through a decidedly family-focused lens. This means parents and other family members have a much greater level of involvement in the treatment process. Highly flexible evenings/weekends on call 24/7 coverage. High level of collateral contacts and considerable flexibility for longer sessions if needed. Our therapists and counselors have multiple contacts per week with clients and family and the differing parts of the system involved with them. Average case load is 7 - 9 families.
The family unit is the focus of attention:
Family-centered practice works with the family as a collective unit ensuring the safety and well-being of family members.
Strengthening the capacity of families to function effectively is emphasized:
The primary purpose of family centered practice is to strengthen the family’s potential for carrying out their responsibilities.
Families are engaged in designing all aspects of the program policies and services:
Family-centered practitioners’ partner with families to use their expert knowledge throughout the decision- and goal-making processes and provide individualized, culturally responsive, and relevant services.
This service is available or coming soon in twelve counties across the state. If you would like more information, or would like to bring Intensive In-Home Services to your County, contact Steve Michaud, Chief Programs Officer at 320-894-6933 or email.

Collaborative Intensive Bridging Services (CIBS) is an intensive treatment program designed to serve children ages 8 to 17 and their families in circumstances where community-based services have not been sufficient to meet the child’s safety and mental health. The CIBS model of treatment combines intensive in-home therapy with a brief, intensive residential treatment facility placement. This model is based on research that indicates children are best treated with their family in the environments in which they live and interact. The total length of treatment is six to nine months.
Service implementation goals for CIBS:
This service is available in Morrison County. If you would like more information, please contact Steve Michaud, Chief Programs Officer at 320-894-6933 or email.
